One of White Rock’s most talented community groups the White Rock Community Orchestra is presenting its annual Christmas Concert on Sat. Dec. 2, 7pm at St. John’s Presbyterian Church!

Led  by the very talented Maestra Paula DeWit who was recently nominated for the 2017 Heinz Unger award the concert will feature seasonal music and classical selections including Mozart Concerto for Harp and Flute in C Major.

Special guests at the concert will include:

  • Chilliwack Children’s Choir
  • Maria Moularas – Harpist
  • Ingrid Mapson – Mezzo Soprano

LIVE MUSIC: Big Easy Funk Ensemble – LEGION OF SOUND

As always it’s $20 to get in, all drinks are $5 and when you buy your tickets ahead of time you are get your first drink for free.

The Big Easy Funk Ensemble celebrates the amazing variety of music that has grown out of New Orleans. With influences from 60’s funk legends The Meters and Dr. John to more recent groups like Galactic and Trombone Shorty. BEFE (pronounced ‘beafy’) mixes many genres of funk, jazz and blues to create awesome grooves. The 9 member band includes a 3-piece horn section comprised of Andrew Benton (Sax), Kevin Tang (Trombone) and Ryan Naso (Trumpet). The rhythm section includes Reece Worth (Guitar), Eric Stephenson (Bass), Tyler Gibson (Keyboards/Organ), Ryan Davis (Drums), Jeffrey Kornblum (Percussion) and last but not least the mesmerizing Christopher Berry on Vocals.

A Mardi Gras party in 2014 brought the band together for the first time and by the end of the show both musicians and audience knew that this band had to continue. Three years and many shows later, BEFE has developed a large repertoire of songs covering a wide range of NOLA talent from Louis Armstrong to the Dirty Dozen Brass Band to Allen Toussaint to the Pimps of Joytime.

The Big Easy Funk Ensemble is fast becoming one of Vancouver BC’s preeminent party bands by attracting fans and stimulating dance floors. Don’t miss their next show at the Ocean Park Hall November 4th!

Get ready for another exciting weekend on White Rock Beach with the White Rock Moon Festival! Boasting White Rock’s best fireworks show of the year accompanied with music, the pier will be lit up with over 200 decorative Chinese lanterns and live music will be entertaining the crowds Saturday night and throughout the day on Sunday!

Presented by the City of White Rock, The Canadian Community Service Association, the World Unity Society of Canada and the White Rock Chinese Arts Center the goal of the festival is to bring our community together through unity, world peace and love. Take some time this weekend to enjoy this FREE community building event taking place in one of the most beautiful places in BC!

TD Concerts at the Pier Aug 19 FINAL SHOW of 2017: Platinum Blonde

Legendary Canadian 80’s band Platinum Blonde are putting a rocking seal on the 2017 TD Concerts at the Pier free outdoor concert series on Saturday August 19th.

At 7pm Opening act Spirit Cool will warm up the crowd with his Acoustic Live-Looping performance in which he creates music like a painter generates a painting. Catch this unique performance and be wowed by his talent.

At 8:30pm Platinum Blonde will take the stage and rock the night away! Pro Tip either grab your seats early or make reservations on Charlie’s or the Ocean Side Yacht Club patio so you have front row seats to this show. Given the last few concerts have seen record numbers there’s no doubt Platinum Blonde will draw another outstanding crowd!

2017 TD Concerts at the Pier Aug 10 – Little Destroyer + guests

The TD Concerts at the Pier 2017 series continues August 10th departing from the classic rock / cover bands the free outdoor concert series has led with. This time the concert series takes a younger,  indie rock approach headlined by up and coming indie rock band Little Destroyer featuring local talent Allie Sheldan as the lead vocals and Michael & Chris Weiss. Little Destroyer will be taking the stage at 8:30pm.

Supporting Little Destroyer will be two opening acts including The Velveteins who are returning from a west coast US tour bringing their indie rock feel to White Rock beach. Here’s a sneak peek of this up and coming indie rock band who will be taking the stage at 7:45pm.

The first opening act is White Rock local & singer/songwriter Ava Carich who wowed the crowds at the White Rock Sea Festival with this awesome cover of Too Close. She’ll be taking the stage at 7pm!

White Rock Beach White Rock Sea Festival is happening August 5th & 6th on the BC Day long weekendA free shuttle will run from the local high schools to White Rock Beach during the White Rock Sea festival.One of my all time FAVOURITE events ever, the White Rock Sea Festival, returns to White Rock Beach  August 5th & 6th! One of Canada’s longest running festivals (68 years!) the 2017 Sea Fest includes the traditional fireworks display on Saturday night and Torchlight Parade on Sunday along with children’s activities, live music, and more throughout the BC Day Long Weekend!

To maximize your enjoyment at Sea Fest without stressing about parking the White Rock Sea Festival is putting on FREE shuttle bus services running from 9am – 11:45pm on Saturday & Sunday.

Park for free at Semiahmoo Secondary and take the shuttle to West Beach or park for free at Earl Marriott Secondary take the shuttle to East Beach.The shuttles will run on continuous loops with 2 buses at each location. Please note INFANTS are not allowed on the shuttles.
