An annual tradition for families on the August long weekend is the FREE Pirates in the Park children’s celebration headlined by Capt’n Korki the clown and her team of pirates! This year the festival is the family zone to the Semiahmoo First Nation’s first ever Semiahmoo Days Festival! While both of these events are not technically part of the White Rock Sea Festival they are happening concurrently creating a great experience for families to take in a full weekend of fun on White Rock beach!

Friday August 4th – FREE Fresh Air Cinema Guardians of the Galaxy 2
730pm: Bring your blankets, lawn chairs and snacks down to the Semiahmoo Park baseball fields to watch Guardians of the Galaxy 2 on one of Fresh Air Cinema‘s giant outdoor movie screens. Gates to the field open at 730pm and the movie begins at dusk!
Make sure to take home with you anything you bring in to the park!
Saturday August 5th – Capt’n Korki’s Pirate’s in the Park Parade & Festival & Semiahmoo Days BBQ
10:10am : Ahoy Pirates big and small! Get yer best pirate gear out and join in Capt’n Korki’s Pirate Parade ! All pirates are encouraged to dress up and bring horns / noisemakers to let all of White Rock know the pirates have arrived! The best dressed family will have a chance to win $200!
Families are encouraged to start arriving around 10:10am in the Totem Pole parking lot. The parade starts at 10:30am and takes about 15 – 20 minutes to march from the Totem Pole Park parking lot along Marine Drive into Semiahmoo Park. Onlookers are also encouraged to line the streets and cheer on the pirates!
11am – 4pm: Immediately following the parade is the start of the Pirates in the Park children’s festival part! All activities are FREE for families to enjoy including:
- Community Spirit Stage with
- 12pm feature performance by Ariel the Mermaid
- 3pm: Girl trio “The Smile Band”
- 40′ Pirate Ship bouncy castle
- Petting Zoo
- Trackless Train
- Bubbles Station
- Safety zone
- Sports Zone
- Face Painting
- Balloon Twisting
11am – 5:30pm: The Semiahmoo First Nation will be serving up a traditional BBQ. Details TBD,
Please keep in mind the Semiahmoo Days festival is focused on being green and leaving zero waste behind so please enjoy the festivities but anything you bring in to the park must be taken away!
Sunday August 6th – Westcoasters Daze Car Show & Pirates in the Park
12pm-4pm: The Westcoasters Daze car show will be taking over the Semiahmoo Park baseball fields with a huge assortment of awesome cars including muscle, classic and antique cars there will even be motorcycles and boats! For car fans this is one event you won’t want to miss. Have a car to feature enter into the competition for only $10!
12pm – 4pm: All of the fun from Saturday’s Pirates in the Park festival continues on Sunday with free family friendly activities taking place until 4pm. Sunday’s highlights include:
- Community Spirit Stage featuring:
- 12pm: Chris Hamilton a talented local entertainer
- 3pm: Girl trio The Smile Band
- 2pm: Local bakery Hillcrest will be supplying 120 mini cupcakes for pirates to enjoy
- 3pm: Teddy Bear March
- Bring your favourite teddy or stuffy to dance the March of the Teddy Bear Picnic and join in a group singalong of Thimble Man in memory of our good friend and renown local entertainer Max Tell.
- Visit from the new Miss White Rock & her Ambassadors
- PLUS there might be a surprise visit from Princess Moana & Tinker Bell during the day

Stick around the beach Sunday night for the legendary White Rock Sea Festival Torchlight Parade which starts at 815. This year the parade will be led by the Semiahmoo First Nation war canoe and followed by Capt’n Korki & her crew riding in the Korki Cruiser!
